Having an electric, or hybrid car is a cost effective and future proof solution for modern living. Charging your EV overnight is a great way to ensure a seamless day of zipping around our city, if you are running low, don't fret! There are many options in Newmarket for places you to charge up while you grab a coffee, browse the shops, or get in a workout at one of Newmarket's many gyms.

With more electric cars on the roads than ever before, and the government programmes making it easier and more cost effective to purchase an EV, ensuring you have a full charge, and knowing where the closest charging station is incase you do happen to run low while out and about, is imperative to having a smooth day without interruption.

Range anxiety is decreasing with becoming less of a thing with the amount of public electric car charging stations popping up all over the place. Most electric cars will come with their own portable charger cable, which like all your other electrics, can be plugged into a normal power point and work through a trickle AC charge, taking around 12-14 hours to fully charge your EV, perfect for at home on an overnight charge, however, public chargers will offer either a Fast AC Charge which takes around 4 hours, or a Rapid DC charge, which takes only 45 minutes, the perfect amount of time to grab a meal, do some shopping or jump into a gym session.

Wilson parking has recently installed three new EV chargers at their 118 Broadway carpark in Newmarket. Easily identifiable with their bright green painted bays, simply drive in, select your spot and plug your vehicle in, then scan your parking ticket on the charging unit to activate the charger.

These chargers are available for use by any visitor, and at no extra cost other than their normal parking fee.

There is also EV charging at Vector on Calton Gore Road, or at the Vector Substation EV charging site on the corner of Seccombes Road and Gillies Ave, with 30 minute parking in the rapid charging bays, and 120 minute parking in the standard charging bays.
