The Auckland Heritage Festival is back for 2019, celebrating the colourful characters and diverse cultures and communities who have shaped Tāmaki Makaurau through the years.
From exhibitions, walks, talks and tours, to a vintage market day and school holiday activities, there’s a huge range of events to suit all tastes and ages. The festival runs from the 5th-28th of October and two key events will be held right here in Newmarket to celebrate the rich history of the precinct.
A bus tour will transport passengers from Britomart to Newmarket with a commentary focusing on Newmarket's many historic buildings and businesses. The tour will end at the Newmarket Railway Station where passengers will return to Britomart by train.
Tours will be held on Thursday 10th, 17th & 24th of October at 11am departing from Britomart.
Join us at the Rialto Cinemas in Newmarket for a journey around Auckland in the 1940's, 50's and 60's, featuring a selection of films from the Ngā Taonga Sound and vision. There will be 3 screenings at Rialto Cinemas once a week (on Tuesdays) during the Heritage Festival.
Times: Tuesday 8th October 11am - 11:45am
Tuesday 15th October 12:30pm - 1:15pm
Tuesday 22nd October 5pm - 5:45pm
