I’ve recently moved into Newmarket so it’s become my village where I get to ‘live, work, play’! It’s really changed over the years; It feels a lot more cohesive. The different food options and new development has brought more residents and businesses into the area. I get to walk to work and love having easy access to the train and bus services.
Get a variety of experience. Having a range of roles across multiple organisations/sectors allows you to gain a diverse range of skills and knowledge to tap into.
Probably something in the creative sector. I love architecture and interior design. It’s amazing how you can create spaces with a completely different feel by moving furniture around and adding a few additional touches at minimal expense. Living in Newmarket with its amazing range of interior design stores allows me to have a dabble!
I love music. My kids tell me I’m a terrible singer but I still turn up the radio and belt out a song. Growing up as a teen of the 80’s, U2 is still up there with One Tree Hill, James Blunt – 1963, or Cold Play...
My first paid job was at Foodtown in Meadowbank, packing groceries.
My kids. Realising life is precious and to enjoy every moment. Daily exercise.
Auckland. I know it sounds cliché, but I’ve been privileged to live and travel around the world; here, everything is close at hand. Mountains, water sports, Waiheke, waterfront, food...
Bambina does a great coffee! After work, White + Wong’s!
Diverse, current and buzzing.
Don’t be scared to give anything a go! Every experience adds to your ability to get to your pinnacle (including the bad ones) ... Oh, and make a career plan!
Take the dog for a walk up one of our local mountains, grab a coffee, wake up the kids, make lunches, get them out the door to school and then walk to work!! The car hardly goes out...
I grew up in Singapore so water, boats, sun, sand, food, adventure and friendly people. Fiji and Bali are great fun for all the family. Or skiing the slopes of Queenstown.
My phone - keeps me in touch with the kids, diary, camera, email, contacts... who remembers anyone’s phone numbers these days?
Best Ugly Bagels tucked away down Osborne Lane.
Be yourself and trust your instincts!
Being a hands on Mum to 3 children, while continuing to build a career. It’s bloody hard! I’ve been lucky having a great group of friends and family around. You never feel you’re doing anything justice, but so far the kids are doing great!
It just happens to be Saturday morning and I’m on my way to Waiheke... Palm Beach and vineyards calling! It’s the school holidays though... On a normal Saturday, on the sideline of a sport fixture, coffee in hand.
Probably my Godmother. She’s always been a rock for me.
Setting a bad example for my kids and looking back over my life wishing I’d done things differently. It’s a work in progress...
Working with NZ leaders who are passionate about creating value for their owners and retaining profits in NZ. I see the co-operative model being an opportunity to create a sustainable future. We need a social conscience.
