‘Something & Social’, a new concept from the team behind Auckland’s award-winning drinking and dining space, Pilkingtons, has been confirmed as the latest venue for Westfield Newmarket’s rooftop dining precinct. Something & Social promises to deliver “something for everyone”, with an all-day casual dining offer including a speciality pizza menu, a great premium beer, wine and cocktail list, fantastic coffee and a dedicated gin garden with a specialised gin menu. Something & Social will be in great company at Rooftop on Broadway, alongside White + Wong’s’ new concept restaurant and bar that was announced late last year.

Commenting on the partnership, Director Chester Hospitality, Paul Lomax said: “We are looking forward to opening our all-day concept at Westfield Newmarket and are confident the casual vibe we are creating with Something & Social will make it a regular for locals – a great place to catch up with friends for a drink or a bite to eat with family.”

Mark Knoff-Thomas, Chief Executive of the Newmarket Business Association said “the Rooftop on Broadway dining precinct is set to add a whole new dimension to Newmarket’s hospitality offering, we are delighted that there will be so many more reasons to come here and stay here! Something & Social, Sardine and White +Wong’s will complement each other and become a new social hub.”

Meanwhile, popular free-range rotisserie chicken eatery Bird on a Wire will bring ‘good vibes only’ to the centre’s fresh food market. Bird on a Wire currently has restaurants in Orakei, Takapuna, Ponsonby and will soon open in Tauranga, making Westfield Newmarket Bird on a Wire’s fifth eatery, plus specialty Asian supermarket Tai Ping will open its 10th Auckland store in the fresh food precinct at Westfield Newmarket.  Knoff Thomas commented “we’re very excited about the fresh food market. Bird on a Wire has built up a strong following with its high-quality food offerings – it will undoubtedly be very attractive to Newmarket’s consumers, and Tai Ping will be a fabulous addition and ensure that our offering is diverse and has something for everyone.”

Scentre Group Director, Leasing & Retail Solutions and New Zealand Development, John Papagiannis, said “Exceptional dining and leisure experiences are an essential part of our living centre offering. We are pleased to be working with some of New Zealand’s hottest hospitality brands including Something & Social, Bird on a Wire and Tai Ping to offer a combination of new food and dining concepts all under the one roof at Westfield Newmarket. We are looking forward to delivering an unparalleled fresh food and dining experience for our customers at Westfield Newmarket,” he said.
