All Eyes on Newmarket
The Newmarket Business Association (NBA) launched NEWMARKET SECURITY in February 2023 - Newmarket’s very own in-house mobile patrol service that operates 7 days a week 10am-6pm.
NEWMARKET SECURITY has a Communications Centre based at the Newmarket Police Station, where our extensive network of CCTV cameras stream into. The camera network includes comprehensive views across the precinct, alongside a ring of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras around our town centre’s perimeter, and body cameras worn by our Mobile Patrol Officers (MPOs), that livestream video and audio footage back to the police station. The MPOs use technology tools like Safer Cities’ vGrid and Auror to receive alerts in real time on their mobile phones while they’re out on the beat.
This service is fully funded by the NBA, and as such is exclusive (and free) to NBA members.

Mark Knoff-Thomas, NBA CEO commented “Since we started NEWMARKET SECURITY we have managed to get a good handle on retail crime in the precinct. We work collaboratively with security providers - and with our local police and want to acknowledge their amazing support and helping get this initiative off the ground. Also thanks to Auckland Transport for their help and cooperation. Plus Newmarket-based Andrew Simms for sorting us out with a trusty Kia patrol car.”
