In celebration of Matariki, Pandora has partnered with one of Aotearoa’s most celebrated art collectives, Dreamgirls Art Collective, on a special collaboration spanning jewellery design and public art.
Inspired by the nine stars of the Matariki cluster, the partnership brings together a New Zealand-exclusive charm collection and a large-scale public mural, weaving together storytelling, self-expression and female empowerment.
Dreamgirls Art Collective is a female-led artist collective made up of Miriama Grace-Smith, Xoë Hall and Gina Kiel. Based in Wellington, the trio is known for bold contemporary works that span street, gallery and digital spaces, brought to life through colour, texture and storytelling.
They have created a large-scale mural in the heart of the capital, celebrating the themes of remembrance, connection, aspiration and renewal. The artwork depicts a modern wahine, surrounded by symbols inspired by each of the nine stars and their unique meanings. Together, the mural reflects the enduring role of storytelling in connecting people to culture, community and one another.
The artwork has then inspired a New Zealand-exclusive collection of nine Pandora charms, with each piece representing one of the stars and transforming Dreamgirls Art Collective’s bold visual language into wearable keepsakes. "Matariki is a time to pause, reflect on those who have come before us and think about the future we're creating together. We wanted to celebrate those ideas in a way that feels hopeful, joyful and alive." says Miriama.
The partnership marks Pandora's first New Zealand artist partnership of its kind and will only be available for a limited time. Inspired by the stars of remembrance, abundance, dreams and new beginnings, the collection invites New Zealanders to connect with the stories behind the artwork and celebrate the values that Matariki represents.
