Newmarket Business Awards: Q&A with Stewart Sherriff of 2degrees

Tell us about (your business) and what your business does?

2degrees is a proud innovator in the telecommunications market.  We’ve built our own nationwide mobile network and have now expanded into offering broadband, fixed line and business solutions as well.

Why did (your business) choose Newmarket as their base?

Interestingly we have always had our Head Office in the Newmarket Area. It works for the business and it works for our staff.  They appreciate the proximity to the Domain, good transport links and let’s not forget Ugly Bagel!

What is the one accomplishment (your business) are most proud of in 2017 and why?

We have just recently announced our maiden profit which was a huge milestone for the business.  The telco world is also hugely competitive, especially in a market the size of New Zealand and it’s not cheap to build a nationwide mobile network either.  So to start see a return on our investment is fantastic.  I think it’s shown a lot of people what we’ve always known – that we’re here to stay and we can help you with all of your communications needs.

Tell us about your involvement with the Newmarket Business Awards?

As I said we really enjoy being part of Newmarket and while we have offices across NZ it’s important for us to participate locally as well and be part of our local business community.

Which category did you sponsor and who was the winner?

Best Small/ Medium Business of the Year (non-retail)

What is Newmarket’s best kept secret?

The Seafood Harbour Fish Shop.  Super fresh snapper that they clean and de-scale for you on the spot.  My wife would of course say Juliette Hogan…
