How to spend the school holidays in Newmarket

Reading Time: 3 Minutes

The school holidays are here and sometimes it can be tough to keep the little ones occupied, so we have wrapped up our holiday must-dos and best spots to visit with the kids in tow around the precinct. Whether you are looking for somewhere to eat, fun entertainment or a spot to pick up some art supplies we have it all right here in Newmarket.

WHAT TO DO

VR Voom is a great place for the kids to explore alternate realities and universes. With a wide range of Virtual Reality experiences and school holiday programmes available, the kids will be spoilt for choice! You'll find them at 393 Khyber Pass Road.

For the movie buffs, Rialto, Events Cinema Westfield Newmarket and Event Cinemas Broadway have all the latest films showing and there is something for everyone. They even offer deals on family friendly films and family passes which makes a trip to the movies even sweeter! The Super Mario Bros, Argonuts, Mavka - The Forest Song and Red White & Brass are all must-watch movies these April holidays!

Holidays

If you have keen bakers on your hands, Southern Maid are hosting Donut Making Workshops for kids ages 6 - 15! Book the kids in for 2 hours of fun in the kitchen where they will learn how to make donuts from scratch from the clever chefs at Southern Maid. Book your spot here.

For active little ones on the go, we suggest a trip to The Olympic Pools and Fitness Centre. This Newmarket establishment is the perfect spot to get the kids out of the house and into the pool. The Olympic is also home to Hilton Brown Swimming which offers swimming lessons from infants through to teens.

For a little more high-octane entertainment, Timezone on Broadway and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq are the places to be for entertainment these school holidays. With gaming machines, bumper carts, bowling alleys and photobooths, these entertainment emporiums are designed for hours of fun-filled activities for both kids and adults who are young at heart!

WHERE TO EAT

Burger Burger is famous for its #BBKidsClub, a fun concept that makes taking the kids out enjoyable for everyone. Offering up a menu that includes mini versions of their famous burgers and sides like veggie sticks and kumara fries, the kids will love it!

If you happen to be in Newmarket on Sunday with the kids, we suggest you take them to Something & Social, as the kids can eat for FREE from 4pm-7pm!

After a day filled with activities, it’s hard to resist the temptation of ice cream. For the ultimate treat, visit Movenpick on Broadway for a traditional Mint Choc waffle cone, or Duck Island for an ice-cream sandwich.

And while we are on the topic of sweet treats... pick up a box of Daldang's deliciously fun Fatcarons. Similar to macarons, these colourful morsels have a crunchy shell with a creamy filling!

If you are looking to try a bit of everything, Westfield Newmarket have put together a Kids Pass which includes a Kids Cinema ticket, $20 game card for Archie Brothers, a Kids meal at The Bavarian and a glazed donut from Krispy Kreme all for only $40 and keep the kids entertained all day!
