We caught up with Brad Hagstrom – joint CEO of Harmoney to find out why he loves working in Newmarket, the best part of his job and an advice for someone starting out in the financial technology industry…
N. Why do you love working in Newmarket?
The good transport options. I can now train and e-scooter to work. I also love that our office is right across the road from The Domain. And Delight Spice is just a short scooter ride away for lunch.
N. What is one piece of advice that you would give to someone who was looking at starting out in your industry?
You can’t work in fintech if you don’t have an e-scooter! Or – just be really excited about finding new ways of doing things, and new ways of thinking about things.
N. What would you do if you weren’t in your current role?
Starting up another company or, more likely, running a surf shop on the Gold Coast
N. Name your top three favourite songs.
I don’t have a top 3, but my current playlist includes 90’s classics; Nirvana, Chilli Peppers and Soundgarden.

My Head of Digital Marketing, Glen MacKellaig. He made me write that. Actually, it’s probably my mum.

I don’t have one but wouldn’t know what to do with myself if there was a world shortage on Thai green curry or rogan josh – or surfing spots.
N. What do you love most about your job?
The people and the great culture we have. I am very proud of how fast Harmoney has grown, and excited about growth in Australia. Employees at Harmoney are passionate about delivering superior customer experiences. Our employee engagement is 82%.
